New Hampshire First District congressional candidate Andy Martin wins a major victory by obtaining the release of five years of documents involving investigation of one of his opponents, state senator Andy Sanborn

First District congressional candidate Andy Martin has won a landmark victory for New Hampshire taxpayers by agreeing with the New Hampshire Attorney General to a timetable for releasing documents involving five years of taxpayer-paid investigations concerning state senator Andy Sanborn. “We have a ‘Right to Know’ law,” Andy Martin says, “Because taxpayers have a Right to Know what happens to their tax dollars. The state spent five (5) years investigating Andy Sanborn and what Sanborn admits is his crude behavior. The fact that Sanborn did not commit a crime is completely irrelevant to his unfitness to serve in congress. There was a dispute and I was literally at my desk starting to prepare a lawsuit, when the Attorney General made an offer which I accepted. This time, the taxpayers win. I did the job that New Hampshire’s fake news media would not do, seek the release of vital public information concerning a candidate for congress who is simply not fit to serve.”

(MANCHESTER, NH)(June 22, 2018)  First District congressional candidate Andy Martin announced Friday, June 22nd that he has won a major victory for New Hampshire citizens by resolving a threatened lawsuit, without a lawsuit, to secure the release of documents from the New Hampshire Attorney General involving a five-year investigation of State Senator Andy Sanborn by state officials.

“The Attorney General did not want to release the ‘Sanborn files’ until after the primary, and maybe even after the general election,” Martin says. “I was literally at my desk to start drafting a lawsuit seeking Right to Know relief in court, when I received an offer by the AG proposing a schedule for release of the Sanborn files. I accepted that offer and thank the Attorney General for recognizing the importance of allowing voters to see the Sanborn material before the primary election.

“We have attached to [emailed copies of this statement] copies of the documents involving correspondence explaining how the negotiations took place, so that citizens can review for themselves how I proceeded.

“I do not know what is in the Sanborn files, but I will have more to say about Senator Sanborn’s misfeasance that triggered five years of investigations paid for by New Hampshire taxpayers. Whatever, the content of the files, votes have a right to see the Sanborn evidence before the primary election, not after. I am gratified the AG eventually agreed with me and that we were able to avoid a lawsuit. That’s the way the system should work.

“This has been a busy ‘legal’ week for me. I began in Alton, NH working to assist the American Legion in a planning and zoning dispute. I believe my presence and participation there was constructive. Today, Friday, we are ending with a major victory for New Hampshire taxpayers without the need to file a lawsuit. The truth will out.

“I look forward to serving the people of New Hampshire in congress, and to ensuring that every New Hampshire citizen, irrespective of how humble or exalted they may be, receives public service from my congressional office. We will serve with the utmost of humility. I am the only candidate in either party in the First District to be ready to serve on ‘Day One.’”

Andy Martin has been a respected public interest lawyer for decades and he will bring that extensive experience working to secure “deals” (Trumpspeak) or “agreements” (Andyspeak) that serve all of the state’s citizens.

“This time,” Andy concluded, “By fighting to release the Sanborn files, I did the job New Hampshire’s ‘fake news’ media failed to do. I got an agreement to see public records released for the public’s benefit.”

New Hampshire First District congressional candidate Andy Martin backs the Alton, NH American Legion post in its in zoning fight with local officials

First District congressional candidate Andy Martin will be in Alton, NH Tuesday night to help the local American Legion post avoid new zoning regulations demanded by local officials. “President Trump is eliminating unnecessary regulations at the federal level; we can’t be adding them back at the local level,” Andy says. “I will carry President Trump’s message and policy to Alton: do not enact unnecessary regulatory burdens on a veteran’s lodge that is struggling financially and poses no threat to the local community.” Andy calls local efforts to declare the non-profit American Legion hall a commercial establishment ‘zoning imperialism.’ “We fought a war to avoid being regulated unnecessarily,” Andy continues. “In the Granite State we will push back against illogical efforts to commercialize non-profit organizations. This is the ‘Life Free or Die’ state.”

(MANCHESTER, NH)(June 19, 2018)  When the Town of Alton, New Hampshire Planning Board meets at 6:00 P.M. this evening First District congressional candidate Andy Martin will be there to support the local American Legion post in its efforts to avoid burdensome new zoning regulations. Andy will be speaking during the public comments portion of the meeting.

“President Trump promised to get America out from under Obama’s burdensome regulations,” Andy says. “I want to be sure that we don’t enact at the local level the same suffocating regulatory policies we are eliminating at the national level.

“I don’t know why or how a veterans’ organization can be considered a commercial facility. The town’s interpretation of its zoning law is so expansive it could endanger churches as well as veterans’ organizations across the state.

“In essence, the town claims that when the American Legion purchased an existing restaurant in 2001, to use as a post, that transfer triggered a change in ‘use.’ No it did not. The town also claims that if a non-profit organization holds a ‘public’ event, the non-profit is turned into some sort of commercial establishment. Tell that to the tens of thousands of churches and other non-profits across the United States that hold functions where tickets are available to the public. The regulatory overreach of the Planning Board is breathtaking.

“Veterans’ organizations are struggling financially. Many younger veterans do not want to ‘join.’ American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts are mostly in financially precarious condition. Demanding tens of thousands of dollars in new regulatory compliance when these organizations purchase a new property smacks of zoning imperialism.

“I hope we can resolve matters amicably. But if the Planning Board persists in its rather rigid approach, I can foresee a landmark lawsuit. The American Legion is a federally chartered organization. If I am elected to congress, and the controversy persists, I can foresee sponsoring legislation to ‘preempt’ local regulation of veterans’ organizations properties,” Andy says. “I’m on the case, there to defend our veterans. The post’s attorney is Chuck Douglas. I’m there as a cheerleader and someone who support President’s Trump’s agenda at the local level. I’m there to see that President Trump’s national deregulatory principles are not undermined by local officials.”

New Hampshire congressional candidate Andy Martin saves taxpayers $28 million by blocking a loan guarantee scam involving The Balsams

New Hampshire congressional candidate Andy Martin has blocked a $28 million loan guarantee that was being used to finance a real estate scam in the North Country. New Hampshire taxpayers would have been liable for the entire $28 million loss. “Crooked law firms and trustees destroyed the Neil Tillotson Trust, by betraying their fiduciary duties to North Country residents,” says Andy Martin. “The Balsams hotel was a jewel, and it was deliberately destroyed to make way for a massive real estate scam. I stood alone in fighting this awesome example of ‘honest graft,’ and I believe the project is now dead. We’ll continue to fight to get real jobs, not fanciful financial promotions, to the North Country. Other candidates make promises, I deliver. real performance. I just saved New Hampshire taxpayers $28 million. Not a bad performance from just a candidate.”

Dear New Hampshire Citizen:

This is my fourth letter to you from my campaign. I hope you are enjoying a behind the scene look at Republican Party politics, New Hampshire’s fake news media and the way political insiders try to profit by misusing your hard-earned tax dollars.

Politicians and especially candidates like to make lavish promises. For myself, I prefer to campaign on delivering actual performance.

Seven years ago the employees of The Balsams hotel invited me to visit the hotel facility in the North County. The hotel was a national landmark and a New Hampshire gem. The ambience was extraordinary; the quality of the food and service were world class. In every way The Balsams was an extraordinary experience. See what the Washington Post had to say, Link #1 below.

The hotel was left in a trust by wealthy investor Neil Tillotson for the people of the North County. The hotel and its programs supported somewhere between 300 and 500 solid jobs. But the trustees of the Neil Tillotson Trust got tired of being responsible for the hotel, so they eventually dumped the property on a couple of real estate speculators.

The speculators, known as “the Two Dannys,” promptly ripped the interior of the hotel apart, seeking to raise fast cash. A virtually new $80,000 kitchen was sold for scrap. They also sold off easements to get their cash out. Although New Hampshire newspapers continue to publish a mist-shrouded picture of The Balsams that hotel is no more. It has been totally destroyed by greed.

I tried to help the employees but the courts were not favorable. It was heartbreaking to see valuable jobs simply erased by political greed.

Then the Two Dannys brought in a ski operator, claiming they would create a model ski resort. With each passing year, the ski project mushroomed, to the point where they are currently claiming it is a $175 million project. But the real estate promoters wanted you, the New Hampshire taxpayer, to bail out this scheme with a loan guarantee that would essentially be used to borrow down payment money. No one would invest significant funds in the venture without you making the down payment on their investment. Sound fishy? The promoters claimed they would sell visas/Green Cards to people in China to get them entry into the USA as “investors.”

I have been fighting this loan guarantee because the $28 million state guarantee is not a guarantee at all; it is a certain loss for taxpayers.

The Union Leader has been promoting the loan guarantee as virtually a done deal, and they have blacked out any mention of my opposition. Likewise the New York City-owned “local” TV station, WMUR, has promoted the scam and reported as though the deal was legitimate.

“Investigative reporting” does not exist in New Hampshire. In fact, the fake news media attack anyone such as me who actually takes action to protect taxpayers from political scams. Taxpayers are subjected to a constant stream of fake news from our fake news local media.

I blocked the loan guarantee in May. This month the loan guarantee was blocked again. Please see Link #2 for a list of stories. The threat of my lawsuit prompted the state finance agency to dig deeper into the financials of the scam, and the deal is effectively dead.

The hypocrisy of taking Neil Tillotson’s trust funds,  specifically designated for the North Country, and wiping out the hundreds of jobs Tillotson created, and then falsely claiming that (insert name of your favorite phony politician) you are “for North County jobs” is breathtaking. The jobs were already there and they were deliberately destroyed by greedy lawyers and promoters.

I continue to stand watch so that any effort to revive The Balsams loan guarantee scam will continue to be blocked. I have a Right to Know law request pending with the state agency.

If you ask yourself, can Andy make a difference in Washington, can he deliver on his promises to the people of New Hampshire, you have the answer. I just saved all of you $28 million by blocking a scam that would have been a sure loser for taxpayers.

None of my opponents in the Republican Party primary even remotely has any experience or inclination to help President Trump Fight the Swamp in Washington. They are “all promises.” I am all performance.

I am the only one that can make a difference from Day One in protecting your hard-earned money. I just beat one set of scam operators; I’m ready to fight the next battle in Washington. Please send me to congress as your Representative from the First District. You’ll be proud you did.

Respectfully,

Andy

New Hampshire’s first congressional district race explodes Thursday, June 14th with candidate Andy Martin asking candidate Andy Sanborn to withdraw because of Sanborn’s link to a grand jury investigation

New Hampshire congressional candidate Andy Martin says that State Senator Andy Sanborn is “dead on arrival” as a congressional candidate in 2018 in the wake of a second round of investigations and grand jury review of an incident involving Andy Sanborn taking place in 2013. “The Democrats are salivating at the prospect of unleashing a woman, Maura Sullivan, to attack Sanborn for failing to see a connection because Sanborn’s admitted ‘crass language’ and his unfitness to serve in congress,” Andy Martin says. “Sanborn is not a viable candidate in 2018 and he should withdraw because he creates a potential fiasco for the entire Republican ticket in New Hampshire.”

Andy Martin’s letter to Andy Sanborn (without letterhead):

June 14, 2018

Andy Sanborn
Andy@AndySanborn.com

Dear Andy:

This is a difficult letter to write. But in the interest of New Hampshire Republicans I am compelled to ask you to withdraw as a candidate for congress in 2018. I believe the basis for your withdrawal is compelling. I further believe that if you do not withdraw, your potential presence on the November ballot could endanger Republican candidates in both state and federal races.

1. You have accused your “political enemies,” i. e. “liberal Democrats, of conspiring to defame you (Union Leader 12/9/17). But both of the investigations involving your admitted misconduct were directed by Republican senate presidents, Peter Bragdon and Charles Morse. So the claim that Democrats have been out to get you is so hollow it borders on a lie.

2. You admitted to the Union Leader (12/9/17) that you used “crass language,” apparently directed at a state employee. You then tried to minimize your misconduct, by seeking to trivialize your self-admitted crass conduct, saying “it is disgusting that anyone is trying to equate a crass joke to all the real challenges women are facing…” (Union Leader 12/9/17)

By your own admission you are unaware that the use of “crass language” is one of the most serious forms of sexual misconduct. How stupid is that? What do you think Ray Buckley’s smear machine will make of your own admissions? Your own words! Maura Sullivan will rip you to shreds.

3. Senate President Peter Bragdon opened an investigation in 2013. Thousands of dollars were paid to an out-of-state law firm to investigate. A cash envelope was handed to a state employee, the purpose, amounts and connection to you remain opaque, even after five years and two investigations. Bragdon is a Republican. Morse is a Republican. They acted because of the undeniable appearance of impropriety.

Last year Senate Chares Morse asked for a new investigation, the second one. Eighteen (18!) tapes exist. The Attorney General presented the matter to a grand jury. Vital facts are still in dispute and unresolved.

You have denied you committed a crime.

4. While I am seeking full disclosure of all evidence under New Hampshire’s Right-to-Know law and I will be moving expeditiously to ensure that release, I agree that you probably did not commit a crime. I am reserving final judgment until the tapes and evidence are released to the public. But that misses the point.

Most boorish behavior and sexual harassment is not criminal, it is a civil offense and an affront to civilized of professional behavior. The quotations attributed to you in the Union Leader show you have no idea that your behavior was despicable and unlawful as a civil matter.

5. Your misconduct cost taxpayers tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars in both outside legal fees and insider state employee time to investigate your incident twice. Assistant Attorneys General were paid, investigators had to assemble the evidence. That activity cost taxpayers a small fortune. You claim the investigations were all about nothing. Then why did the matter end up in front of a grand jury? Are you suggesting the Attorney General presents frivolous matters to a grand jury for review? The answer is obvious.

6. Nevertheless, the finding that no crime was committed is irrelevant. Your conduct does not have to be criminal to render you unfit to serve in congress. So the “I am not a criminal” defense is unavailing.

You yourself have admitted to unlawful behavior that would get you fired in the private sector. Are the New Hampshire state legislature’s morals any less exacting? They literally had to “change the rules” after your misconduct. In the law of evidence, subsequent remedial conduct (by the state senate) is evidence of prior unlawful behavior.

7. I hope you will heed my experienced analysis and withdraw or not file by the close of the filing period on June 15th. Your withdrawal, however, will not stop my Right-to-Know demands to the Senate President, the Attorney General and the Grand Jury (the grand jury’s secrecy can be overridden in a public matter such as yours). There will be no cover-up. Too many questions still remain.

8. You could also undermine your wife’s candidacy for state house speaker. That would be unfortunate. She was present and witnessed your self-admitted crass behavior. The best approach? Withdraw by tomorrow, and consider a run in 2 years when matters will have quieted down.

9. And don’t think the liberal media, the Union Leader and WMUR, will save you. Two years ago I exposed that Jim Lawrence, who claimed to be a “small businessman” had “no business” at all, because his business had been dissolved by the state. The federal government had barred him from bidding on most federal contracts, while Lawrence continued to masquerade as a government contractor. Lawrence had unpaid taxes. All of this information was basic public information and should have been presented to Republican primary voters by honest media.

But New Hampshire’s fake news media concealed the truth from voters.

The Union Leader and WMUR censored my campaign to cover up Lawrence’s misconduct. They treated a “fake candidate,” Lawrence, as though he was a serious candidate despite all of the evidence to the contrary, and they held back the evidence until it was too late for Republicans to vote against Lawrence in the primary. Then they smeared Lawrence just in time to reelect one of the wildest liberals in congress, Annie Kuster.

The same fate lies store for you. The liberal media will play possum until after the primary and then “discover” the evidence in time to elect Maura Sullivan.

Pull out, lie low and wait to see what materializes in 2020. That is your best course, really your only course, whether you want to admit it or not.

Sincerely,

Andy Martin

Dear New Hampshire Citizen:

This is my third letter to you from my campaign. I am writing to encourage you to run for the state legislature (General Court).

The 603alliance.com (info@603alliance.com) is organizing efforts to recruit candidates to run for the General Court. There are still districts with no Republican candidate. The New Hampshire Republican Party is also encouraging people to run for the legislature and Wayne McDonald will be hosting a recruitment session today, Wednesday in Concord (info@nhgop.org). I am adding my voice to their efforts as well as adding my own encouragement and offering to assist legislative candidates who need help or a little encouragement to file before the filing period ends this Friday.

First, the good news. President Trump is building a record we can all be proud to run on. The Democrats have been counting their chickens before they hatch. You have probably heard of the so-called “Blue Wave” that was going to sweep D’s into control of state legislatures and congress. To be blunt, “it ain't happenin’.” All of us probably have some aspect of Trump’s performance we wish he would change or improve. But look at the big picture. The economy is strong; are voters going to support Nancy Pelosi’s higher taxes and Barack Obama’s surrender-only foreign policy? Our economy here in New Hampshire and nationally is solid. Now that Republicans are in control, wages are finally rising. The flow of illegal labor has been stanched, allowing Americans to compete for better jobs without competition from illegals willing to work for scab wages. It’s pure dollars and cents. I think Republicans will do very well in November, and you could play a part in that victory.

Landslide elections, even surprise elections, often bring into office people who filed and then won unexpectedly as a “tide” defied expectations. Republicans can win in 2018. They will.

Second, Republicans locally are doing better. As with President Trump, you can almost always find something to criticize about the performance of an incumbent governor. They have to make decisions and they can't please all of the people all of the time. But, overall, Governor Sununu is doing a solid job. I support him. He is going to be reelected.

The GOP state chairman, Jeanie Forrester is also rebuilding the party. It is no secret that I was a critic of the former party leadership; year after year the departed GOP leadership cadre led us down the road to defeat through incompetence and corruption. But I believe Jeanie has opened up the Republican Party and I am doing everything I can to encourage her to run honest primaries, so we can all unite after the primary. I have no problem with tough primaries; I’m in one myself. But I know from experience that when party leaders play straight, candidates and their supporters come together more quickly and unify for the general election.

Third, if you file, you will not be alone. People are sometimes afraid to run because they fear embarrassment if they lose, or are unsure how to structure a political campaign. Some people feel they may be embarrassed if they run, and lose. That’s just not true. No one has any right to criticize someone who is offering their services to their state or district in an attempt to provide public service and leadership. Let me give you an example “ripped from the front pages.” Years ago I met John Cox. Cox has run for office several times, and lost. But he was never embarrassed to try or discouraged when he didn’t succeed.

A few days ago, Cox knocked off the former mayor of Los Angeles and won a spot as the Republican gubernatorial candidate in California. At least one sage Democrat has warned D’s they may be underestimating Cox. The moral; if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again until you do. There is no shame in trying.

Fourth, so you’re not alone. What does that mean? If you file for the legislature and need help, you can turn to my campaign for informal support. You’ll have someone you can help. Just pick up the phone and ask. No, I am not looking for work as a campaign consultant. I’m just offering to help you with your campaign, one Republican to another, and help launch your efforts. I’ll help people all across the state, not only in my own First District.

Finally, why am I offering to help you? There are a couple of reasons. Obviously, I want to encourage a full ballot. If I win the First District primary and take on the Democratic carpetbagger candidate from Cook County, Illinois, Maura Sullivan, who claims to be from New Hampshire, I want candidates all up and down the ballot trying to bring out the biggest vote possible.

I also know that if I help keep you on track, many of us will coordinate our efforts to build a Republican majority. I believe, passionately, in teamwork and I am ready to work with you and your team. Together we’ll be stronger and better if we work united.

Bottom line: I encourage you to run for the General Court. There are vacant districts and you could be elected! Go for it. Friday is the deadline. I’m here to help you.

Respectfully,

Andy

Dear New Hampshire Citizen:

Last week I formally filed my Declaration of Candidacy with the secretary of State to compete in the September primary for the GOP First District nomination.

This is the first of a series of regular letters that I will send you during the campaign to let you know what’s happening, to let you know what I am thinking and to ask for your opinions and advice. In this letter I [1] want to let you know why I am running; [2] discuss some issues which are “housekeeping” matters; [3] ask your opinion on one matter and [4] give you my thoughts on President Trump’s cancellation of an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

1. Why I am running

The basis for my campaign can be reduced to a single word: experience. If you evaluate the qualifications of my opponents and compare them to my own, I believe you will agree that I am the most experienced candidate in the race and probably the only one that can “take the battle to the Democrats.”

A.  I have the experience to fight back against the Democrats

We know that our politics have unfortunately become toxic. While both parties are to some extent responsible, the reality is that as the Democratic Party lost support during the Obama era, Democrats became increasingly vicious in attacking Republicans. The First District is a “swing” district; it can be won by either a “D” or an “R” depending on how the candidate acts. That means the Democrats are going to unleash a fury seldom seen in New Hampshire to undermine and defeat the First District Republican candidate.

I have been tested in the crucible of being the target of personal attacks hurled at me in national politics by Democrats and occasionally even an odd Republican. So, like President Trump, I know how to fight back and I have the guts to fight back. We lost a senate race in 2016 because our incumbent senator would not fight back against the malicious attacks of her opponent. I will not make the same mistake.

My primary opponents are generally decent people. I expect a minimum of personal attacks to fly back and forth. But none of them has ever been tested when the Democratic Party unleashes all of its hell and hatred on a Republican candidate. New Hampshire Republicans have a track record of melting. I am not a “melter.” If he had not been willing to fight back, and hard, President Trump would not be “President Trump.” So, ask yourself, how bad do you want to elect a congressman and send another vote to help the president?

B. I have the experience to be New Hampshire’s voice in Washington

We face serious national security problems abroad, and serious challenges to our way of life in the United States. We are under relentless attack here at home from the Chinese government. The attempted infiltration of the Russians is well known. I have spent a lifetime studying our intelligence and national security problems. China? I studied Chinese and lived for a time in China (Hong Kong). Iraq? One of the Democratic candidates mentions “Falluja” every other sentence. I was in Falluja, alone, to analyze the mistakes that led to the carnage there. I lived in Iraq a good part of 2003 after openly and vociferously opposing the disastrous invasion of Iraq. I warned of the growing danger when the Bush administration was in La La Land. I don’t have to take a back seat to anyone when it comes to national security because I have spent more time in the worst places around the world than all of my opponents in both parties combined. That kind of experience will help to make me a strong influence in Washington, and someone who will ensure that New Hampshire’s voice and your voice is heard loud and clear.

C. I have the domestic policy experience to work for YOU

What do you want in a U. S. Representative? You want someone who will be accessible, who will run a competent office and who can get results when you need them. Many candidates “run against Washington” and claim their ignorance of the federal government is an asset. I disagree. I went to Washington a long time ago, and I have experience that comes from a lifetime of participation in national debates. I helped trigger major consumer protection policies. Take a look at www.AndyMartin.com for a very brief synopsis of my experience. I will not have to spend years “learning the ropes;” I will be pulling strings, for YOU, on day one. That’s want you want in a Representative, a representative who can advocate for your needs and be your voice.

2. A couple of housekeeping matters

Like President Trump, I believe in transparency as well as accessibility. You know what he thinks; you will know what I am thinking.

A. One of my opponents should issue a public apology

One of my opponents treated me very badly in the past. My opponent was trying to rig a primary in favor of his candidate, and was rude and abusive. (Like President Trump, I also have a long memory.) I am not going to mention my opponent’s name. If he issues a public apology, that will be the end of the matter. If my opponent refuses to apologize for his past misconduct, then he can expect from me what he directed at me in the past, without the rudeness of course. People are free to disagree with my views; that’s politics. But I do not accept corruption and conspiracy as attributes of a primary campaign. If you poison the well it’s hard to drink your own poison after primary day.

B. I pledge to support the winner of an honest, open primary

The New Hampshire Republican Party has a Constitution as well as detailed rules. Party leaders and organizations are required to stay neutral. People can resign their primary positions if they what to be activists, but the party by the terms of its own constitution is required to stay neutral. That rule was violated egregiously in the past.

I want to thank Chairman Forrester and Governor Sununu for breaking with the past and apparently seeking to build party unity by conducting fair and impartial primaries.

In that spirit I want to state unequivocally that if the party conducts an open and honest primary, I will support the winner without hesitation. I hope all of my opponents will make a similar, public, primary commitment and that we will not see the kinds of dirty tricks that were prevalent and prominent in the past.

3. What is your view? I’d be interested to hear

OK, now a question. In the modern era, is it appropriate to raise questions when one of your opponents is seeking, in conjunction with another family member, to accumulate significant control over both state and federal offices at the same time? One of my opponents, in conjunction with another family member, is seeking to control both a congressional seat and one of the highest positions in NH state government. Do we really want a “Bill and Hillary Clinton problem” in the NH GOP? I invite your response. I read everything and I may respond if your observations invite a reply. Let’s have an open dialogue about this issue.

4. President Trump and the Philadelphia Eagles

Over the past couple of days there has been a media hubub over President Trump’s cancellation of an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House. It has been a long tradition of this nation that winning sports teams receive a White House invitation. No one has a “right” to be invited to the White House, and no one has a right to abuse or harass the president. The Eagles reported that approximately 80 members of their organization would come to the White House to be honored. Within a couple of days that contingent was reduced from 80 to approximately 10, in an effort to embarrass the president. President Trump not only was well within his rights in canceling the invitation, he would have been remiss if he did not.

Refusing White House invitations as a means of embarrassing the president began during the Viet-Nam War. That behavior is toxic and needs to stop. If the Eagles had simply said “thank you, no,” that would have been the end of the matter. But they accepted the invitation, said a large number would be attending and then at the last minute reduced the guest list by 70 people to a token, and insulting, number. The intent of those machinations was obvious and odious. I SUPPORT PRESIDENT TRUMP.

Respectfully,

Andy
